Our recruitment effort for patients with HIV infection will be done at the University of Louisville HIV clinic. Our recruitment efforts for patients without HIV infection will be done at University of Louisville affiliated clinics. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rules will be a priority in the recruitment of study participants. Once a potential study participant is identified, the following strategy will be followed: 1) Initial patient eligibility screening over the phone or at the study site. Women and members of minority populations will receive equal screening opportunities to any other study candidate; 2) A copy of the informed consent will be given to the patient and questions or concerns will be clarified; 3) Patient enrollment; and 4) Administration of the protocol.
